St. Charles Center celebrates employees with hog roast dinner

On June 27, St. Charles Center hosted a hog roast in the grove by the upper lake in appreciation of all of the employees at the senior living center.  

“Uncle Ham” was the 200-pound guest of honor, dressed in patriotic gear for the occasion. 

Uncle Ham was expertly prepared by Jerry Happy (pictured on right) assisted by Paul Woeste (on left), both former students at Brunnerdale Seminary.

Today we gather to honor the hearts and hands that make this community a home. We give thanks for every employee whose compassion, dedication, patience, and kindness touch the lives of our residents and one another each day. We recognize the caregivers, nurses, dining staff, housekeeping teams, maintenance staff, administration, activities staff, and every person whose work, both seen and unseen, helps bring comfort, dignity, and joy.  Your kindness and service make a difference in so many lives each day. 

May this gathering be filled with appreciation and fellowship. Bless this meal we are about to share and the activities that will bring us together in celebration. And a special word of gratitude for Jerry Happy who prepared this pig roast. May this time remind each person here that your work matters, your efforts are valued, and your presence makes a difference in the lives of all who live here at St. Charles.
