Precious Blood Peace and Justice Grants
Missionaries of the Precious Blood contribute $164K to 37 organizations
Our founder, St. Gaspar del Bufalo, had a mission to spread the word of reconciliation and renewal through the Precious Blood of Jesus as far and as widely as he could. He multiplied his efforts with his many missionaries. Still today, we can’t be everywhere there is need. One way we extend the reach of our mission is to support individuals and organizations within and outside of the Precious Blood community whose work aligns with St. Gaspar’s.
Precious Blood Peace and Justice Grants are awarded by a six-person panel that includes Missionaries of the Precious Blood priests, brothers, and Companions, and are given to projects that serve the poor — seeking systemic change of unjust situations or involving reconciliation, raising consciousness of the causes of an injustice, or providing direct services to alleviate the effects of poverty and injustice.
Brother Rob Reuter, C.PP.S., administers the grants. He says, “One of my favorite gospel passages for peace and justice is the good Samaritan in Luke, who helps a wounded man on the road. The Samaritan didn’t care about political boundaries. He didn’t care about the man’s background. He didn’t care how he got there or ask, ‘What were the choices he made? Is he responsible?’ He was in need. And he helped him. That’s it. That’s what we do.”
Congratulations to the 2024 Precious Blood Peace and Justice grant recipients, and may your work bring God’s healing power through the blood of Christ to the people you serve.
