Spotlight on St. James the Less
Brother Tom Bohman, C.PP.S., serves as director of religious education at St. James the Less parish in the Oakland Park neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. He says that approximately 95-97% of households fall beneath the poverty line in this mostly Hispanic community.

Spotlight on Cooperative for Education
In the mid-1990s, Jeff Berninger was looking for a way to make a difference for youth in the world, and Fr. Barry Fischer, C.PP.S., guided him to the mission in rural Guatemala, where Jeff volunteered to teach middle school. Jeff’s eyes were opened to the many barriers to education that his students faced, including systemic poverty and a high rate of adult illiteracy. Among the most glaring barriers was a lack of textbooks in classrooms.

Precious Blood Peace and Justice Grants
Missionaries of the Precious Blood contribute $164K to 37 organizations
Our founder, St. Gaspar del Bufalo, had a mission to spread the word of reconciliation and renewal through the Precious Blood of Jesus as far and as widely as he could. He multiplied his efforts with his many missionaries. Still today, we can’t be everywhere there is need. One way we extend the reach of our mission is to support individuals and organizations within and outside of the Precious Blood community whose work aligns with St. Gaspar’s.

Carrying the Eucharist to the Corners of the Earth
Today we celebrate the founding of our religious Congregation, the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, by St. Gaspar del Bufalo, in 1815, in a small town called Giano, in a country that was not yet but would become Italy.

Another loss: Parade shooting hits close to home
The tragic ending of that parade was worldwide news. An argument broke out, and guns were fired. Twenty-two people were injured, and Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a mother of two and former parishioner at Sacred Heart Guadalupe parish, was killed.

We are called to remember and witness: Hiroshima and Nagasaki
In 1945, over 200,000 people, most of them civilians, died in Japan from the atomic bombs that we, the United States, dropped on the cities of Hiroshima on August 6 and on Nagasaki three days later. Millions others suffered life-long health consequences from radiation exposure, including vulnerabilities to many forms of cancer.

Attempt on former President Donald Trump’s Life.
As the nation reels from the attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life over the weekend, we’re called to reflect on the profound impact of acts of violence on the moral and spiritual fabric of society. The inherent dignity of every human life is a principle deeply rooted in our faith and the Spirituality of Precious Blood.

Virtues Help Us Live into our Call
Have you ever taken a walk in the evening after a heavy snowfall? The sounds of the city are muffled, there is a hush over creation as the snow blankets the earth. The rhythm of the crunch of the snow underfoot draws you into a place of quiet contemplation.
