War and the Children of Gaza

Gabino Zavala, JPIC Director

As members of the Precious Blood family, we stand in solidarity with victims of war throughout the world.

With much to distract us in American politics, we yet dare not grow immune to the devastating reality of war for so many around the world. In many places, and particularly Gaza, war is raging without regard for civilians, families, and particularly children. With homes destroyed, helpless families move desperately from place to place in search of any safe shelter. Enemies destroy infrastructure without regard to human needs. Helpless civilians: men, women, and children become the targets of high-powered weapons of war. Their blood cries out to us!

With the immense gift of lives as Americans, we dare not forget that our privileges are only by the grace of God. “We are them; they are us.” Those are our little ones with devastating wounds, lacking even basic medical care and the nourishment to heal.

Let’s accept our mission of accompaniment for these helpless brothers and sisters. Let’s speak up in conversation, and in our places of influence, to remind the world that war is never an acceptable remedy for the world’s problems. Let us never become immune to the suffering it produces.

For a devastating view, watch CBS Sunday Morning, “Children of Gaza,” July 21, 2024 here.

If you are blessed with financial resources, there are organizations you can assist: Doctors Without Borders, The Palestine Children's Relief Fund, Catholic Relief Services.

Let’s unite as Precious Blood family to pray that the call of Christ’s Precious Blood and the cry of the blood of so many innocent victims will pierce the consciences of those who continue to make war.
