World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life
World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life
Each year on Feb. 2, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord and the gift of those living a consecrated religious life. “Consecrated virgins, religious, members of secular institutes, and societies of apostolic life remind us of the deep desire of human heart to see the face of God.” The theme chosen for this year, “Pilgrims and Sowers of Hope,” invites us to reflect on the fundamental role played by consecrated persons in today’s society. Like pilgrims, we seek a horizon beyond the material, guided by faith and hope in the Risen Christ. As sowers, we spread the seed of God’s love, cultivating hope in the hearts of those around us through our closeness, listening, prayer, work and dedication.
Prayer for consecrated persons
"God our Father, we thank you for calling men and women to serve in your Son’s Kingdom as sisters, brothers, religious priests, consecrated virgins, and hermits, as well as members of secular institutes. Renew their knowledge and love of you and send your Holy Spirit to help them respond generously and courageously to your will. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen." (Resources from USCCB and CMSM.)
