Precious Blood Renewal Center update Jan. 2026

The Advent programs at Precious Blood Renewal Center were well attended in person and over Zoom. Besides our Advent morning and evening reflections and our annual celebrations marking St. Lucy Day and the Winter Solstice, we added a new program we called, “Baking Spirits Bright,” an afternoon of Christmas cookie baking aimed at young adults. We hope to grow the young adult program over the next months.

The Renewal Center is part of an informal association of retreat centers in Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. The association will gather online Jan. 6 for a day-long spiritual reflection and networking. The morning will be an interactive prayer experience led by Shannon Evans, culture and book editor of National Catholic Reporter and author of “The Mystics Would Like a Word: Six Women Who Met God and Found a Spirituality for Today.” The afternoon will be breakout rooms discussing topics such as how to attract new participants, social media best practices, implementing creation care principles in running a retreat center, and what brings people to our retreat centers today?

We continue our year-long “Teach Us to Pray” series with “Introduction to Ignatian Spirituality” on Jan. 8 at 6:30 p.m. central time. Based on the teachings of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits, it is a spirituality that insists that God is present in our world and active in our lives. This program is offered in person and online.

The Renewal Center is again co-sponsoring with the Liberty Area Ministerial Alliance events for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Jan. 18-24. A Community Prayer Service for Unity will convene on Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Liberty, and “Becoming One: A Community Conversation about What Unites Us” meets at the Woodneath Public Library on Jan. 24 at 10:30 a.m.

The above programs are in person only, but you can join us online praying for Christian unity every day from Jan. 18-24. Visit our website daily for prayers and stories of leaders in the ecumenical movement.

You can find more details about all our programs and register for them at pbrenewalcenter.org/events/.
