Companions update Nov. 2025
Liberty Companions
The first Companion retreat was held at the Precious Blood Renewal Center, led by Sr. Sara Dwyer, ASC. She is a captivating and charming speaker who led us through a wonderful discussion on integrating Beatitudes and Catholic Social Teachings. It was well balanced between presentation, table sharing, and personal reflection. Sr. Sara was very open and responsive to questions and discussion. I highly recommend her retreat.
We also had several Companions renewing their covenants this month.
The Liberty Companions met on Oct. 12, welcoming a guest speaker who is executive director from Missourians to Abolish the Death Penalty as well as our own Fr. Mark Miller, who is on the board and vice chair of MADP. Our group had a great discussion, but sadly, our governor denied clemency and Lance Shockley was put to death, murdered by the state of Missouri on Oct. 14. Several Companions from Liberty as well as Fr. Mark, who has advocated against the death penalty since the 80s, came to the vigil held in Kansas City. Please pray for the repose of the soul of Lance Shockley.

Carthagena Companions
Pat Diller brings news of two people from their group entering Covenant with the Missionaries this October. Two more will join our family, two more will be part of the 1,000 tongues praising and affirming the Power of the Precious Blood, accompanying neighbors in their community who might otherwise walk alone. At their gatherings, Carthagena Companions are discussing “Let Us Dream,” a book by Pope Francis, which is very much in tune with Precious Blood spirituality. Here is a quote from the book:
Solidarity acknowledges our inner connectedness: we are creatures in relationship, with duties toward each other, and all are called to participate in society. That means welcoming the stranger, forgiving debts, giving a home to the disabled, and allowing other people’s dreams and hopes for a better life to become our own.
