CCSJ President Amy McCormack announces her 2026 retirement

Dr. Amy McCormack, president of Calumet College of St. Joseph (CCSJ), announced her retirement, effective June 2026. She will be completing her ninth year in this role. Dr. McCormack, who is the college’s first female president and the longest-serving female college president in northwest Indiana’s history, leaves behind a legacy of substantial growth.

Under her leadership, academic offerings have expanded, including new master’s degrees in business administration, public administration, and exercise and sports science, as well as new bachelor’s degrees in kinesiology and medical lab science. The college also developed a Public Service Institute and Diocesan Scholars program.

Dr. McCormack has worked with enrollment leadership and staff to continually improve student retention through the development of a vibrant campus life. She supported and expanded CCSJ’s athletics by founding the Midwest Sprint Football League and inaugurating CCSJ’s Sprint Football team. As president, she oversaw rebranding efforts, including the creation of the school’s mascot, Crimson Joe, and led CCSJ’s “Community as Campus, Campus as Community” initiative to connect the college to its surrounding neighborhoods more effectively.

Along with developments on and around campus, Dr. McCormack has played an integral part in setting the institution up for success beyond her presidency through successful fundraising efforts, establishing a grants office, and ensuring more voices and perspectives in the college’s leadership by developing a Board of Trustees that reflects the region’s diverse population.

“I interviewed [at CCSJ] nine years ago this fall, and it has been a most rewarding nine years, full of physical and institutional changes, adaptations internally, and challenges and successes that I could have never imagined,” President McCormack said when announcing her retirement to CCSJ faculty and staff. “I always wanted to leave CCSJ in a better place than when I arrived, and I know in my heart that I have achieved that goal.”

Calumet College of St. Joseph’s selection committee has begun the search for the next president to continue college’s current momentum and growth.
