Brother Tom Bohman, C.PP.S., celebrates 50 years
Brother Tom Bohman, C.PP.S.’s journey started in Mercer County, Ohio, when he was born in Celina on June 24, 1950. Br. Bohman was baptized in 1950 and was confirmed in 1959 at St. Nicholas Church in Osgood, Ohio.
At the age of 16, Br. Bohman’s path led him to entering Brunnerdale Seminary in Canton, Ohio, on Sept. 5, 1966. He did his special formation from 1972 to 1973 at St. John’s Church in Whiting, Indiana. Br. Bohman’s temporary incorporation took place on May 19, 1973. On May 25, 1975, Br. Bohman was incorporated by V. Rev. Charles Bricker, C.PP.S.
Br. Bohman became a teacher at St. John’s Church in Whiting, Indiana, in September of 1974. He then was a teacher in July of 1981 at Precious Blood Church in Dayton, Ohio.
His pathway continued on by becoming co-director of brother formation on June 1, 1983. In May of 1986, Br. Bohman was elected senator for the congregation. In June of 1987, he continued as director of brother formation and special formation with his residence at CTU in Chicago.
On Aug. 15, 1989, Br. Bohman became parish associate at Our Lady of Good Council in Cleveland, Ohio. In May of 1990, he was elected to the executive committee.
In 1996, Br. Bohman came back to Mercer County, Ohio, on Aug. 1, as associate at the St. Henry Parish in St. Henry, Ohio. On July 10, 1999, he became the director of the Maria Stein Spiritual Center in Maria Stein, Ohio.
From Sept. 1, 1999, to August 2002, Br. Bohman was the administrator of the Maria Stein Spiritual Center in Maria Stein, Ohio, and part-time pastoral minister at St. Henry Parish in St. Henry, Ohio.
On Aug. 1, 2000, Br. Bohman’s assignments with the Maria Stein Spiritual Center and St. Henry Parish were renewed for two more years.
On May 15, 2002, Br. Bohman was elected fourth councilor for the former Cincinnati Province.
His journey took him back to Cleveland, Ohio, on Aug. 1, 2003, where he became pastoral associate at St. Adalbert/Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church.
On August 1, 2012, Br. Bohman was assigned as pastoral associate at St. James the Less Church in Columbus, Ohio, and is still currently there. He was elected to the Cincinnati provincial council in 2018. Br. Bohman’s journey started out with him teaching and he has continued that special talent to today.
