Absolutely Life Changing

Much of life is a rolling evolution. The days grind or gallop along and, absorbed in other concerns, we can scarcely take more than passing note of the changes that are inevitably all around us.

But once in a while something happens that stops us in our tracks. There are some days that are absolutely life changing. If you have lived more than a few years, you know what kind of days I am talking about, good or bad.

What we approach now, with wonder, is one of those days. The day when us full humans first lay eyes on the “Wonderful Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.”

Unlike some days of catastrophe or awe, this one does not hit us like a bolt out of the blue. We have been told that this day is coming. We have seen the signs and heard the promises.

From the birth of Christ forward, that promise is lived out. Today is our first glimpse. Then we see in his life on Earth everything that Jesus has to teach us, everything that we are to learn. It is a full lifetime of marveling, for us, as we witness Jesus giving everything to us, his people, down to the last drop of his Precious Blood. Giving it all willingly, holding nothing back.

As on his first day on Earth, when people were drawn near, he continues to draw us near. Through his Precious Blood, he makes all of us brothers and sisters. As one family, in one voice, we say “Glory to God in the highest.”
