CCSJ wraps up 2025 with service and fellowship during de-stress week
At Calumet College of St. Joseph (CCSJ), we call the week before finals “De-stress Week.” It is a time when our students are worried about exam performance, final papers, project presentations, final grades, and much more. The CCSJ faculty and staff make a point to help them navigate this stressful time through a week of light-hearted activities like a group trek to the local movie theater to watch Christmas classics and getting quality time with a few dogs brought to campus, to give them a much-needed brain-break.
The CCSJ family also knows that if there is one thing that is a universal comfort for stressed-out college students, it is food. This is why many of the events of De-stress Week include free food, like walking tacos provided by first-year experience coaches, free snacks in the library for students studying, and a pancake breakfast prepared and served by Student Services staff. Our most notable event during De-stress Week is the annual Soups of the Day. Organized by Campus Ministry, staff and faculty volunteered their time during lunch to serve students free soup to fill their bellies and help fuel their next study session. “It’s always nice to interact with and serve our students, and a warm bowl of soup is needed on a cold day like today!” said one of the Soups of the Day volunteers.
Not only does De-stress Week help our students practice self-care during a stressful time, but it also provides the whole college family the opportunity to serve one another and join in fellowship before the holidays.
CCSJ looks forward to continuing to serve and support our students and welcoming them back to campus in the new year. 2026 will be Calumet College of St. Joseph’s 75th anniversary year, having been established in 1951. The campus is abuzz with the many events and celebrations planned for this milestone year.
